American Girl Knitted Halter & Shrug Pattern

Now I don’t knit. In fact I am quite hopeless at knitting and sewing. I am really good at cleaning. Anyway, I do know that a lot of you do knit and are looking for patterns. We haven’t seen too many knitting patterns that we love but we LOVE this one from Soulful Hues Hobbies and Random Thoughts. It is just the cutest knitted halter and little knitted shrug - and it’s a free pattern. We wish that we sold these in the store and will be keeping our eyes out for a product like it. If anyone knits one please send us photos for the blog.

Rebecca's Book Collection

Rebecca Rubin, New York, 1914 American Girl Doll!
Just released her series of six books are now available! Here is some information and pictures from the books about Rebecca!
#1-Meet Rebecca, #2-Rebecca and Ana , #3-Candlelight for Rebecca ,#4-Rebecca and the Movies ,#5-Rebecca to the Rescue and #6-Changes for Rebbecca.
She arrives (it appears) in a dark red or burgundy straight dress with a belt around the hipline and gold buttons down the front. Black cuffs and tiny collar are accents. NO bangs, curly brown hair (shoulder length) and a big white hairbow at the back of her head. Her parents immigrated from Russia so her "doll" is a set of nesting dolls that were her mother's. She has a little brother and twin older sisters . . . her Mama has a cousin who is an actor! Rebecca wants to do that too.
In the second book, Ana, Rebecca's cousin arrives from Russia and the two families live together in New York City.
In the third book, Rebecca celebrates Hanukkah . . . she is wearing a very good looking lilac dress on the cover! She has a pretty pink dress on the fourth book's cover - and hat. It's called Rebecca and the Movies.
The plots of the books include immigration, Ellis Island, the Silver Screen and the Labor Movement.
Looks like fun!!

The New American girl Historical Doll

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!!

The New American girl doll is here!. In case you haven't heard or seen it yet, the New York Times had an article about Rebecca . . . with a picture! Click HERE to read it and see her picture . . . Cute isn't she?
Here are some of her details -Ms. Rebecca Rubin, all of 18 inches tall, is the newest historical character doll to be released by American Girl, whose products have a rabidly devoted following among the female 7- to 12-year-old set. She is a 9-year-old girl living on the Lower East Side in 1914 with her Russian-Jewish immigrant parents, siblings and a grandmother known only as Bubbie.
I think she has pretty features. Love her hair coloring, its similar to mine, except mine isn't as shiny. Can't wait to see her wardrobe! We just love clothes and accessories, me, my 10 year old daughter and our AG girls! If your looking for some great summer outfits for your AG girls, stop by our web store. Let us know what you think of the "new girl". Send us an email or leave us a comment.
